Trend Tuesdays | The Leather Harness

My new obsession began with a dilema...I enjoy vintage, and I have a large collection of vintage blouses. If you have any vintage blouses, you would know that they aren't exactly tailored to fit a narrow waist. I have an hour glass shaped body and look...well, just round, if I do not accentuate my waist. I have been a huge advocate for waist belts and had an issue with them sliding down and not staying where I wanted them to. So I googled - Belts with straps, and voila! I purchased the last harness in the list of photos and I have been rockin it with...everything.

You can get one similar to this one on Etsy as well.

This is the one I purchased from Etsy and I have been wearing it with everything!  Dresses, T-shirts,  and all my vintage blouses. LOVE!

Kim Cathers | Life after Project Runway

Images from her latest collection at the Vancouver Eco Fashion Week closing event. All the fabrics used for her line are from Our Social Fabric - a textile recycling initiative, saving end of bolts from ending up in landfills.

Black Pegasus Calling - Kim Cathers, Life after Project Runway
Kim Cathers first shot to fame as a finalist on the hit TV series Project Runway Canada -  as it goes in the world of entertainment, the public can chew you up and spit you out, and then we may never hear of  you  again, or if we do, it's on a third-rate reality show for washed up stars .  Cathers has little chance of that happening, as she has taken her 15 minutes of fame for what it is, and moved forward with her work. The Vancouver based designer is one of the more recognizable personas in Canadian fashion, but she doesn't think of herself as accomplished, instead choosing to live day by day on her passion and livelihood - fashion with a sustainable angle.

PRIMARY NY | Simply CHIC

Primary Fall 10 is modern, essential, fundamental
Primary New York won't have you guessing where the label originates and garners its inspiration from, but creative director Cleo Schroeder, a native of Vancouver BC, struck a chord with the newly minted fashion line that identifies with both New Yorkers and Vancouverites; the fall debut collection is "based on what the 'north west coast effortless' girl would wear in NYC with her serious job and fancy dates."

That girl is, in a sense, Primary's muse: easy-going yet always a lady, she is effortlessly chic and perenially young at heart. And she wears nice clothes.

This dress can be worn two ways! You can tie in the in  back for a coquette look.
Styled by Kelly Framel of The Glamourai.
My personal favourite. The long flowing sheer skirt, magnifique!

Cleo Schroeder's journey to creating nice clothes started when she fell in love with New York after her first visit at age 14. Paying her dues as a fashion stylist in the film industry, it was a moment freezing on the side of Cypress Mountain "styling" costumes for a snowboard film that led her back to city that never sleeps, where she attended Parsons School of Design in the pursuit of creative freedom. Now, Schroeder wields her stylist's eye and meshes it with an acute design sense - the multi-talented designer made all the jewellery for the first collection styled and shot in Vancouver. Hoping to take Primary up and out, Schroeder has since let go of the styling reins to focus on her love of design, recruiting Kelly Framel of the hugely popular fashion blog The Glamourai to style Spring 10.
The clothes bear the qualities of edge and simplicity, timelessness and of-the-moment ease that truly defines fashion that is modern and essential. Primary also does more for the fashion world than meets the eye - all fabrics are sourced locally in New York to support the local garment industry and environment.
As for what she is looking most forward to, Schroeder says: "I am super excited for the day I see a random cool girl on the street, be totally inspired by her and then after realize she's wearing Primary."  Cool girl - New Yorker, Vancouverite, or elsewhere - would most certainly find plenty to love in Primary.
